What is Diabetics?

It is a condition not a disease in which the body's response to the hormone insulin is impaired, resulting in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and increased levels of glucose in the blood. There are 2 types of diabetes - Type 1 and Type 2.
In Type 1, the hormone insulin is not secreted in the body at all and needs to be given artificially.
In Type 2, insulin sensitivity or production decreases.

Symptoms

  • Excessive thirst (polydipsia)
  • Excessive urination (polyuria)
